For some time now, The English language has been one of the main job areas for foreigners in China. But lately, there has been an increase in demand of expatriates with skills in engineering, sales, management and so much more.

This has led to a high demand for foreign nationals with relevant skills in that area. In addition to the Chinese companies, the foreign companies are also looking for experienced hands, to help them penetrate the local market.

Writers/editors and journalist: This is another great opportunity for individuals, who have a strong understanding of the English language. In Beijing alone, there are lots of English newspapers, radio stations, TV channels and news portals, which are mostly run by the state. Working in such organizations or companies will help you to expand your knowledge and also lay the foundation for further opportunities.

As a sales executive, your main focus is in handling sales for corporate clients and you can also be in charge of directing sales. A good knowledge of the Chinese business environment and its etiquette will be an added advantage for this position. Hence, most trading companies in China, look for foreigners who are capable of promoting sales, both within and outside the region.

Highly specialized fields such as the automotive, oil and gas, clean energy and general heavy industries in china need foreign hands to give these companies an air of prestige since they have a high level of exposure around the globe.

Hospitality: The Chinese tourism industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years and it’s likely to continue due to the high influx of foreigners and, new business enterprise into the country. This is a clear indication that the hospitality industry will keep expanding and this has led to the demand for foreign talent.

Advertising: the advert placement industry, has been on the rise and they are looking for new individuals with fresh set of ideas. To get into the industry, all you need is the creative instinct and a high amount of energy for the job. Due to the highly competitive environment between the foreign companies and the Chinese companies, different advert agencies are constantly recruiting new faces to work in this fast paced environment.
